Ready made Package Installation

The PlusMemo package may be installed on your Delphi/CBuilder component palette for design time access to TPlusMemo and TDBPlusMemo according to the following procedure:

  • Unzip all files from PMemo7Packx.zip (x is your Delphi/CBuilder version) in a suitable directory for Delphi/CBuilder.
  • From the Delphi main window, select the menu item "Component/Install Packages…"
  • Click button Add...
  • Browse to PMemo7Packx.bpl, click Open (x is your Delphi/CBuilder version)
  • Click OK

You should have a new component palette page, called "PlusMemo" with TPlusMemo and accessory components on it.

You may need to add the directory where PlusMemo is located to your library path.  If Delphi complains that it does not find PlusMemo.dcu when compiling your application, it means it is not on the library path.  In that case, go to Tools/Environment Options..., select tab "Library" and enter the PlusMemo directory to your library path.

Data aware version (TDBPlusMemo) Installation Instructions

Design time packages from Electro-Concept Mauricie do not include the data aware version of PlusMemo, TDBPlusMemo, because not all Delphi/CBuilder editions have database support.

To add TDBPlusMemo to your component palette, add file Plusdb.pas to a design time package of your choice.  This file and the associated Plusdb.dcr file are included in zip archives you downloaded.  We recommend not using the PlusMemo package itself, otherwise you will have to reinstall it every time you update your PlusMemo version.  It is best put it to a new package or another one where you use to put third party components.

To install TDBPlusMemo on your palette, follow normal component installation instructions, repeated here for your convenience:

From Delphi/CBuilder main window, select menu item "Component/Install Component...";  in the dialog box that appears, select Browse… and browse to the file named PlusDB.pas.

You will now need also to specify the design time package you want to use.  You can keep the default selection of dcluserxx.dpk or specify your own one (use a name different from "PlusMemo" to avoid installation problems).

Upon pressing OK in the initial dialog box, your package will be recompiled  and a TDBPlusMemo will appear on the PlusMemo page.  Delphi might notice you that your package requires design time package "PMemo7Packx.bpl" and will offer you to add it to the requires clause.  Select Yes if this happens.

Installing TPlusMemo only in your own package

From Delphi main window, select menu item "Component/Install Component...";  in the dialog box that appears, select Browse… and browse to the file named pmemoreg.pas.

You will now need also to specify the design time package you want to use.  You can keep the default selection of dcluserxx.dpk or specify your own one (use a name different from "PlusMemo" to avoid installation problems).

Upon pressing OK in the initial dialog box, your component library will be recompiled and a new component page called PlusMemo will be added to your component palette.  This new page will include the TPlusMemo component and you can start using it in your forms.  You can move the new component to a page of your choice by configuring your palette once it is installed.

Repeat the steps above with PlusDB.pas if you want to also install the TDBPlusMemo component.
